Cal. 18561 nickel-finished lever movement, 35 jewels, silvered matte dial, Roman numerals, blued steel feuille hands, four subsidiary dials for moon age and moon phases, day, date and month, small eccentric window for two-digit year display, slim circular case, back secured by six screws and engraved with dedication inscription, platinum IWC buckle, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

With IWC International Guarantee card dated 17 September 1999, Repair Warranty card dated 8 May 2006, red tag with calendar setting instructions, instructions manual, copy of the original invoice dated 27 May 1999 and copy of servicing invoice from the same retailer dated 6 June 2009. Furthermore delivered with a watch holder containing a setting pin for the calendar functions, IWC original fitted white presentation box and outer packaging.

Introduced in the 1990s, IWC's Portofino Perpetual Romana model ref. 2050 is believed to be the slimmest perpetual calendar wristwatch ever made, the movement featuring a thickness of only 3.15 mm. The majority of ref. 2050 was cased in yellow gold, examples in platinum were made in a smaller number only.
