Lot Essay

The topsail schooner Jane & Isabella was built in Carnegie's Yard at Peterhead in 1861 and operated out of that port mostly as a coastal trader. Registered at 90 tons net, she measured 77 feet in length with a 20 foot beam and was owned throughout her life by Scott's (latterly Scott & Leslie) of Peterhead, several members of which family also skippered her. The tug Blue Bonnet, 72 tons, was built in 1866 and operated mainly in the Firth of Forth.
