Lot Essay

Jafar Rouhbakhsh exploits decorative images, devoid of any figurative attachment to express their intrinsic value. His work emanates an extraordinary power embodied in harmonious colours, including dark olive green, dark brown, gold yellow, purple, and henna red which take us to the indescribable world of spirituality.

The symbolic themes recurring in his work are the sun, fountain of youth, birds, life tree, and yellow and gold squares and rectangles which are tangent at times. These themes also include a delicate mass of diverse patterns, which give to the work a certain luminosity.
