Lot Essay

Painted in 1907, Camden Town: Night Scene is an early example painted while Innes was still a student at the Slade. It is the only recorded view of an outdoor urban scene of London, making it an extremely rare example of the artist's work.

We are very grateful to John Hoole for his assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
