Lot Essay

The subject is taken from the first book of Samuel (25:2-11), which recounts the story of Nabal, a wealthy farmer with three thousand sheep, who lived in Carmel. Hearing of his prosperity, David sent ten of his servants to ask for his help and for food at a time of famine, but their request was ignored by Nabal, who is here shown focused on the job of shearing his sheep. After this episode Nabal's wife Abigail, here shown at his side, disobeyed her husband and presented David with gifts. After Nabal's death she became David's wife.
