Reminiscent of her native city of Kolkata, Jayashree Chakravarty's canvases are often bustling, crowded and teeming with energetic imagery and line. Her recent work moves away from the cartographic and figural themes that had dominated her paintings in the 1990's to a more spiritual subject matter.
