Solitude

The present painting is a version of Henner's 1866 Salon painting Solitude (Paris, Henner Museum,). Henner frequently made replicas of his Salon paintings for international dealers who preferred the smaller format for their clients. There also exists another version of the same subject in the collection of the Henner Musuem.
