Lot Essay

Lazerges was a pupil of David d'Angers and of Bouchot. He debuted at the Salon from 1840 onwards. He decorated the interiors of many churches in France in his career. This lot probably dates from his period in Algeria, where he was fascinated by scenes of everyday life.
