JOHN F. KENNEDY SIGNED BASEBALL
An official baseball signed by President John F. Kennedy on opening day, April 8, 1963 at a game between Baltimore and Washington, President Kennedy threw out the first ball to Don Leppert, the Washington catcher. Home plate umpire Al Salerno asked Leppert for the ball and as the President left the ballpark, Salerno asked him to autograph it. The ball is accompanied by a letter from Al Salerno and also by a certificate from handwriting expert Charles Hamilton. Kennedy is the rarest of Presidential signatures on a baseball. This is an important baseball since it was the opening day pitch as well as autographed.
