Lot Essay
Orelio was a bay Arab stallion owned by General Carfrae in India. Believed to have been foaled in 1820, little is now known of his career in India, although he is thought only to have been beaten once - by Wildblood over four miles. In 1831 he was sold to Colonel Short, by whom he was imported to England - a relatively late example of the importation of Arab stallions to improve thoroughbred bloodlines.
