Lot Essay

José Jiménez y Aranda was a student of the School of fine arts in Seville, and of the National school in Madrid where he was awarded an honourable mention. He worked in Rome, Paris and then Seville where he then taught. He became a member of the Royal academies of Madrid, Seville, London and Berlin, and many of his works can be found in museums in Cadiz, Seville, New York and Philadelphia
