Lot Essay
According to Susan Schulson, "Being in graduate school for art in the mid 1970s in Chicago, the land of the Hairy Who, I knew about Joseph Yoakum. Everyone did in my gang. When I heard through a dealer friend that one man had swooped up Yoakum's drawings, I met with him. I am sure I drove him nuts as I thumbed through the stack of what had to be over a hundred drawings, agape at each one. I had the worst time deciding, but finally felt I had the most dynamic work in the Ozark piece."
