With fine and small nickel-finished lever movement, 21 jewels, screwed gold chatons, mono-metallic compensation balance with 5 adjustments, the silvered grey dial with Arabic numerals, outermost 1/5th minute divisions, three mother-of-pearl subsidiary dials for day, month and date, sector for phases of the moon combined with lunar calendar, pierced gold hands, blued steel centre seconds, in circular pocket watch case with milled band, spring hinged back when opened revealing the glazed covered movement, the whole case is then transformed into a circular outer case designed as a wristwatch, the pendant and bow used as a securing latch to sit tightly in the case, together with an 18k gold Glashütte deployant clasp, case, dial and movement signed

Julius Assmann, born in 1827, was a passionate watchmaker in Glashütte, Germany. He was once employed by his father-in-law, F. A. Lange, the man who laid the cornerstone of the German watchmaking industry in the 1840s. Assmann founded his own company in 1852, the Julius Assmann Deutsche Präzisions-Taschenuhren-Fabrik (German Precision Pocket Watch Factory) producing key wound pocket watches, and were soon awarded the gold medal by the German Trade Industry. Within two years, Assmann watches progressed to winding by the crown and three-quarter plates so characteristic of Glashütte.
Julius Assmann died in 1886 at the age of 58 and his company was divided among the Assmann family.

The Glashütte Original Julius Assmann is a contemporary interpretation of the Assmann masterpieces paying homage to the famous watchmaker. It bears all of the attributes of a real Assmann timepiece: the three-quarter plate, screwed gold chatons, screwed balance, Breguet balance-spring, and the exquisitely finished filigreed tourbillon cage, all enclosed in a small openface pocket watch case.
