Lot Essay

This illustration of the children's game blind man's bluff was used by Kate Greenaway for the frontispiece design of her Book of Games, published in London in 1889. This watercolour was also included in the retrospective exhibition of 120 of her works exhibited in 1902, a year after her death, at The Fine Art Society, London.
