28 volumes, vols. 1-19 in 8o (242 x 151 mm), vols 20-28 in 4o (330 x 247 mm), approximately 2240 engraved and lithographed hand-colored plates, and chromolithographed plates, many folding or double-page by many artists. (A few plates loose.) 20th-century half cloth and marbled boards (some wear to spine ends and edges, a few backstrips becoming loose, a few joints cracked). Provenance: Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Stickney Fund (bookplates dated 1893-1933; stamps).
FIRST EDITION of this comprehensive flora of the Netherlands published over 140 years. J.C.
