the frosted gilt verge chain fusee movement with bridge cock repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant, the white enamel dial with Breguet style numerals and blued steel moon hands, the gold case with sunburst decoration to the reverse and with ribbed band, inscribed on a cartouche "Lt D Macfarlane, Rifle Corps" and on the hinged gilt cuvette "Prise a Waterloo par Joseph Petty, soldat du 3me Batallion des Carabiniers, le 18 Juin 1815, et presentee au Lt. D. Macfarlane", with a silver fronted red leather travelling case, hallmarked Edinburgh 1889.
