Lot Essay

In the 1960s Lowry executed several studies of young children and teenagers. Whilst rarely interested in sartorial details, in these he does seem to show an interest in the specifics of their fashion, with particular attention paid to their clothes and shoes. In the present work Lowry has emphasised the details of the pencil drawing with extra lines in ball-point pen.
