Lot Essay

The present wristwatch is a rare and well-preserved representative of a Lemania chronograph, featuring a large stainless steel case and a very attractive anthracite grey dial with the rare addition of a scale graduated for 30 pulsation in red on white background.

The calibre 15TL movement was launched in the 1930s and was used in military-issued chronographs as well as in civilian versions.

Founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin, Lemania Watch Co. is doubtlessly best known as a manufacturer of movements, most notably for chronographs, which were supplied to prestigious firms including Omega and Patek Philippe who used variations of Lemania-based movements until the early 21st century.
