Lot Essay

Julia Child, the beloved American chef, author and television personality, was the second owner of this painting. Her husband, Paul, gave this work to her while the couple lived in Paris. La jeune fille aux pommes de terre hung in their home from the year it was painted in 1952 until Child's death in 2004.
