We are grateful to Dr. David Marshall for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs. He notes that whilst the staffage is not by one of the known artists that collaborated with Coccorante (Giacomo del Po, Giuseppe Tomajoli or Giovanni Marziale), they are executed by 'a distinctive and very interesting hand of unusually high quality'.
