Lin Hukui was born in Jie Yang prefecture, Guangdong province. He graduated from an arts college, practised Chinese paintings under Liang Bai-yu, subsequently became Zhao Shao'ang's apprentice. He is known for painting flowers, birds, fishes, insects and animals. His style is fresh, poetic and full of character. He had shown his works in countless exhibitions around the world and won many awards. Since 1978, he held solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, UK, Germany, USA and Australia; his works are collected by many museums.
