Lot Essay

AN IMPORTANT FAMILY COLLECTION
The series of works (Lot 667-669) presented in this season once belonged to Mr. Mario Finazzi which later became an invaluable collection of the family until today. Mr. Mario Finazzi was a noted photographer working in Italy and was a member of La Bussola, the pioneering photographer association in Italy that strived to promote art photography from the 30s to 60s. Mr. Finazzi and Long could become close friends during the period while actively working on photography exhibitions together. They admired each other's work and even exchanged their works including the works for this season. In 1948, Mr. Finazzi held a photography exhibition of Long's work in Italy, with an aim to promote Long's artistic motifs as well as the Asian photography culture and art.
