Lot Essay

The carillon repeating mechanism is more complicated than the better known quarter and minute repeating functions, and more commonly seen in clock watches. Quarter and minute repeat functions feature two hammers striking onto two gongs, while the cariilon features three or four hammers striking onto four gongs, and chime the Westminster tune.
