Lot Essay

For the group of the Madonna and Child in The Rest of the Flight into Egypt painted for the choir of Notre-Dame in Paris in 1715 and now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Arras. Two further drawings of angels in the Louvre can be connected to that picture, A. Schnapper and H. Guicharnaud, Louis de Boullogne, Paris, n.d., nos. 49-50.
