Comparable to two drawings of bedouins by Cassas exhibited in Tours, Musée des Beaux-Arts and in Cologne, Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Louis-François Cassas, 1994, nos. 83 and 86. The costume of the bedouins in the present drawing suggests that like the two mentioned above it was made on Cassas' journey through the Syrian desert to Palmyra between 4 May and 25 June 1785.
