Formé à l’Académie de Brera à Milan, Ademollo s’installe à Rome puis à Florence où il sera nommé professeur de peinture à l’Académie locale à l’âge de 25 ans. Connu comme décorateur de fresques et de peinture à l’encaustique à succès, Ademollo était également un graveur et dessinateur prolifique comme en témoigne cette composition très vivante. L’enfant Jupiter est représenté sur la chèvre d’Amalthée entouré d’une compagnie de Corybantes, dansant criant et jetant leurs lances contre leurs boucliers afin de dissimuler les pleurs du bébé à Chronos.

Active as a successful fresco and encaustic painting decorator, Ademollo was also a prolific engraver and draftsman, as attested by this lively composition depicting the infant Jupiter on the goat Amalthea, surrounded by a company of Corybantes, dancing, shouting and clashing their spears against their shields so that Chronos would not hear the baby crying.
