MARRYAT, Frederick (1792-1848). The Novels, edited by R. Brimley Johnson, 1896. 22 volumes, 8° (189 x 130mm). Half titles, etched frontispieces and plates. Contemporary deep burgundy morocco gilt, spines gilt in compartments with repeated anchor motifs, top edges gilt, others uncut (extremities lightly rubbed, some wear to head of spine of vol. 1).

Engraved frontispieces, titles printed in red and black. Contemporary olive morocco gilt, spines gilt in compartments, brown morocco lettering-pieces, gilt edges (upper joints of vol. 13 have been repaired with adhesive tape). Provenance: presentation inscription dated 1879 on front free endpaper.
