Line and color are the two most important elements in Husain's works. "His lines are sharp, swift and firm. In all these works, he makes sharp outlines in black and then fills these in with patches of color." (J. His palette can either be a riot of colors, or can be restricted to monochromatic tones with an emphasis on shading and texture.
