Lot Essay

This could possibly be a portrait of H. Essenhigh Corke who was considered to be one of the best-known professional photographers of the younger generation. He exhibited in the Royal Photographic Society and the London Salons and was particularly known for his autochromes of floral subjects. He died in 1919 at the age of thirty-five.
