Lot Essay

Born in London in 1898, Howard was the daughter of the artist Henry James Howard (1769-1847). She studied art at the Byam Shaw School of Art, where she was a multiple silver medal winner, and the Royal Academy Schools. Exhibiting at various institutions in London, including the New English Art Club, after the Second World War, she was appointed Draughtsman to the Institute of Archaeology at London University.
