This collection of personal items were bequeathed to Margot Fonteyn's sister-in-law, Irma Crespo De Arias. As outlined in Mrs Arias' accompanying letter, she and Fonteyn became lifelong friends following her marriage in 1981 to Gilberto Arias. The family would often spend weekends at Gilberto's cattle farm, where Irma and Margot spent time together. Following Margot's death in 1991, her step-son passed a selection of her belongings to Mrs Arias.
