Folio, 326 x 195 mm., contemporary calf, rebacked with original backstrip laid down, corners worn; title and portrait shaved slightly along fore-margin, title lightly soiled, some slight fraying to some fore-margins, few single wormholes penetrating text block from title (occasionally touching letters), other marginal soiling and dampstaining. Third edition of Du Pinet's translation (the first was published in 1561), with extensive alterations to the text and some 840 additional woodcuts which do not appear in the previous editions. Woodcut title border, portrait of Mattioli, and approximately 1500 woodcuts in text. Boudrier IV, p. 82 (with title reproduced).
