Lot Essay

The present work is an example of Earl's 'Oriental' style from 1916 through to the mid 1920's, coinciding with her emigration to New York. This work is also illustrative of her skill and elegance in depicting birds, a subject which she developed during her early years in America, and a period that produced what she considered to be some of her best work
