MAYAN STANDING DIGNITARY
JAINA, LATE CLASSIC, CA. A.D. 550 - 950
standing on outspread legs with left arm extended, possibly once grasping a lance, and holding a jade bead trimmed shield in the other hand, the face distinguished by a moustache, goatee, facial scarification and classic extended nose bridge, wearing a sashed loincloth, jewelry and elaborate fan-shaped feather headdress; remains of bright blue pigment.
Height 9 3/4 in. (24.7 cm.)
