Antoine-Jean-Etienne, known as Tony, Faivre (1830-1905), was a pupil of Picot. He exhibited at the Salon from 1848 and won a medal in 1864. Alfred Jorel was a sculptor from Andeville. He carved some of the fans commissioned by Count Demidoff-San Donato in about 1875 and signed four, these were sold at Christie's South Kensington on 11 June 1991. He also signed a fan rather similar to this fan although it also has enamelled medallions, dating from 1869, illustrated plate 37, in Eventails Europeens..., Maryse Volet, Vesenaz, 1994
