EXCEPTIONAL SPIRITS
We are delighted to introduce a truly magnificent selection of rare spirits as part of our final sale of 2016, which marks and celebrates Christie’s Wine Department’s 50th Anniversary. Spirits have been an important part of our business for many years, but in recent years they have become integral to our success. In this auction we offer a range of spirits of truly exceptional quality.

The section opens with a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of American history. Long considered the American “cathedral of Bourbon,” Stitzel-Weller distillery closed its production in 1992. This lone barrel of Blade and Bow 24-Year-Old contains whiskey distilled and found in a legendary era by bourbon greats of the past. This barrel has been bottled as the oldest offering from the Blade and Bow heritage line and is available in its entirety in our auction. This is a piece of Kentucky history, available this one and only time.

All proceeds will benefit The Robin Hood Foundation.

Following from the Blade and Bow, we delve even deeper into historical American whiskey with a rare two gallon carboy of Cedar Brook, Plankinton Reserve whiskey. The whisky was distilled in 1903 and bottled in 1917, it comes presented in its original wooden crate. We’re also pleased to offer a broad selection of rare bottles of Pappy van Winkle, ranging from the legendary 23 Year Old Bourbon, through to the hard-to-find Old Rip van Winkle Rye whiskey.

Moving to Scotland we are delighted to offer two magnificent 50 Year Old Single Malt whiskies. The first is one of the oldest whiskies The Macallan has ever produced. This bottle contains whisky that was distilled between 1926 and 1928 which was aged for over 50 Years and bottled in 1983. We were honored to offer a bottle of The Glenlivet, The Winchester Collection 1966 in our last sale in October, now we go back in time to 1964 with the original release of The Winchester, the bottle comes from a notable private collection.

Finally, we move to France and specifically Cognac to three of the finest bottles we’ve ever offered.

We are delighted to present a rare, large format (1.75 liter) decanter of Rémy Martin’s Louis XIII Black Pearl. The cognac is a blend created from a selection of the finest and rarest Grande Fine Champagne Cognacs. The spirit has been aged in Limousin oak and guarded for a century by four generations of Cellar Masters, before its release in hand-blown Baccarat crystal. The Black Pearl is joined by a bottle of L’Esprit de Courvoisier, a blend of superb Cognacs dating back to 1802 and an exceptionally rare bottle of Grande Fine Champagne Cognac, La Tour d’Argent 1800. This Cognac was bottled for the historic Paris restaurant.

This is singular selection of bottles that truly honors this special anniversary sale.
