Lot Essay

Not content in just experimenting with the various printmaking methods offered, Pacita Abad elevated the two-dimensionality of the print work Sweet things are made of these by adding another layer beneath the print, using fabric and foil, which peek out of the shaped paper, thus raising the depth of the work and layering on a tactile feature.

There is only one other limited edition print that has been effected with a similar quality. The usage of colours, one of her trademarks, is brilliantly celebrated in this work. This limited edition print was created during her residency in the Singapore Tyler Print Institute's Visiting Artists' Programme in 2003.
