Lot Essay

We are grateful to Professor Nicola Spinosa for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs. He notes similarities between the present work and a pair of still lifes in a private collection, Turin (see exhibition catalogue, Civiltà del Seicento a Napoli, Museo di Capodimonte, Naples, 24 October-14 April 1985, and elsewhere, p. 367, nos. 2.166 a,b).
