Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised hour markers in steel in 1948 and its subsequent sale on 16 June 1948.

According to our researches, this watch has never been offered at auction before and is believed to be one of only two examples of a stainless steel reference 565 with rose dial to appear in public to date.

Reference 565 was available with either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds: the first with calibre 12'''120, such as the present one, was launched in 1938.
