Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised gold hour markers in 1952 and its subsequent sale on 10 December 1952.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never been offered at auction before and is believed to the one of only six examples of a reference 2459 in pink gold to appear in public to date, however the only one with such a pink dial and retailer's signature Gobbi Milano.
Preserved in very good overall condition, the desirability of this watch is furthermore enhanced by the pink gold Gay Frères bracelet which can be dated from the same period.

Manufacture of reference 2459 was launched in 1950. The first series, such as the present watch, featured a calibre 12'''120 movement, the second series calibre 12'''400.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 175.
