The present ref. 3800/1 is a well preserved and extremely rare example of this legendary reference, featuring the sought after Gübelin signature to the lower half of the dial, a true gem for the connoisseur of rare timepieces.
It is from the first series of the model, without the quick date corrector change introduced in 1987, and furthermore fresh to the market.
Reference 3800
Reference 3800/1 was in production from 1981 to 2006 and offered an alternative to larger sized “Jumbo” Nautilus watches. Considered three-quarter sized, it was available in a large array of styles in all four case metals as well as in two-tone cases.
The reference 3800 is an iconic and important watch suitably sized for a man's or lady's wrist. It pays homage to the original Nautilus reference 3700 with a similar design and aesthetic and with the addition of a centre seconds hand with the introduction of Patek Philippe's caliber 335 SC.
Ref. 3800/1 and calibre 335 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1998 edition, pp. 232 & 233.
