Lot Essay

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

The watch offered here for sale is a rare stainless steel representative of a reference 2509 furthermore fitted with the antimagnetic calibre 27 AM 400 movement. According to research only two examples of this particular model are known to date.

Reference 2509 was launched in 1950, early series used cal. 12’’’120 followed by 12’’’400, the last examples with cal. 27 AM 400. The model was mainly available in gold and is distinguished by its water-resistant case with screw back.

The present case is stamped “FB” for François Borgel (later acquired by Taubert & Fils), the patented case back with the distinctive ten-sided construction for easier gripping when opening or closing.
