Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with pink dial, applied pink gold hour markers and tachometer scale in 1941 and its subsequent sale on 27 August 1941.
The chronograph wristwatch reference 1506 was introduced to the market in 1941, the year of production of this watch. The particularity and rarity of this model, besides the large size, is unquestionably the unusual design of the lugs. Whereas the majority of Patek Philippe's chronograph wristwatches are fitted with the better known rounded lugs, the firm's case designers contrived a highly uncommon, architectural variant for reference 1506. The elongated, multi-facetted lugs combined with the enlarged bezel and the large size of the case render the model a unique look within Patek Philippe's range of chronograph watches.
Made in an exceedingly small series, only three examples in yellow gold and two in pink gold cases and with pink dials, including this watch, have appeared in public to date.
The present watch however is the only reference 1506 in pink gold with pink dial, confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, known to exist to date. The rarity of this highly attractive and charismatic chronograph is further enhanced by the unusual blue coloured tachymetre scale and the signature of its retailer, Hausmann &Co., one of Patek Philippe's most prominent retailers in Italy.
Hausmann & Co. was founded in Rome in 1794 by Ernst Hausmann, a young German clockmaker and his friend and partner Hermann Frielingsdorf. The firm is still residing in the same premises in Rome's historical centre and represents the world's most prestigious watch and clock manufacturers.
