Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1979 and its subsequent sale on 13 August 1979.

Manufacture of the Nautilus reference 3700/1 was launched in 1976. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 231.

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never been offered at auction before. It is thought that very few examples of the extremely popular large or "Jumbo" Nautilus in white gold were made. To date, only three have appeared in public.

For an example of the same model in stainless steel see lot 112 in this sale.
