Lot Essay

Drawn in 1948-1949 as one of the preliminary studies for the large triptych in the former collection of The Scheringa Museum of Realist Art, Spanbroek (see: M. Butor (a.o.), Paul Delvaux, Brussels, 1975, no. 197), which has been sold at Christie's, London, King Street, 6 February 2013, lot 105.

The Fondation Delvaux has confirmed the authenticity of this drawing after first hand examination.
