Lot Essay

The present work is a preliminary sketch for Huet's entry to the 1855 Exposition Universelle in Paris, Soleil Couchant, Seine-Port, now in the collection of the Louvre. Huet spent from late summer to autumn in 1852 and 1853 in the small village of Seine-Port.
