PELLICANUS, Conradus. Commentaria Bibliorum. Zürich: Christopher Froschauer, 1533. 2 volumes only (of 6) in one, 2° (333 x 194mm). Woodcut devices on titles, woodcut initials, a few large and historiated, with the final blank in each volume (title of volume I slightly defective at inner margin, but with no loss of text, and mounted). Contemporary English blindstamped calf over wooden boards, roll-border of a wyvern, an ape and a dragon and initials GG (but not apparently belonging to Garrett Godfrey) on sides, also forming a central panel [Oldham plate XXXIV, no.503] (rebacked and skilfully repaired, lacks clasps, lower cover rubbed), paste-down endpapers (loose) of 2 leaves of an English (?) glossed canon law manuscript on vellum, c.1300. Provenance: Presentation inscription, 1714, on title from Thomas Byard - Repton School (book-label on title). Adams P592.
