The Madonna and Child with the infant Saint John the Baptist

Foschi was a pupil of Andrea del Sarto, and then in the latter half of the 1530s worked on several projects under Pontormo. The influence of both these artists is detectable in the present painting, which was probably painted circa 1535, before Foschi became aligned to the more refined style of Bronzino.
