Lot Essay

Pierre-Yves Tremois (b.1921) first distinguished himself as winner of the Grand Prix de Rome at the Beaux Arts in Paris in 1942. Since then his prolific career has covered many media from sculpture to jewellery design and ceramics. He is best known for his work as an illustrator and particularly for his etchings, characterised by his use of vigorous line to depict scenes which merge realism and fantasy.
