Old English pattern, the terminal with bust of King George V and Queen Mary above the inscription 'Silver Jubilee 1936', marked on the back with a label printed 'A Merry Christmas' and with a depiction of Father Christmas, inscribed in an unknown hand 'for dear little Margaret from Aunt Maud' the back inscribed in another hand 'Xmas 1935', contained in a Garrard cardboard box inscribed '2 Silver Spoons for T.R.H. the Princesses from H.M. The Queen of Norway'

Lot Essay

Born Princess Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria the future Queen of Norway was the fifth and youngest daughter of the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. She married Prince Christian Frederick Carl Georg Valdemar Axel (1872-1957), the second son of the King of Denmark in 1896. Prince Carl was elected the King of Norway following its independence and took the name King Haakon VII.
